Pockets + Pink and a Party

You know I am a sucker for a beautiful dress with a beautiful bride and every wedding I photograph I become “suckered in”. Frankly, I love it. I love the attention that our ladies go to to match their dress with their own personal style, I love the details and I love the love. So on this fine day, I was “suckered” completely by Shelly and Mark.

SM06112010-0071

This is Mark, and we love him especially because he is giving Shelly two rings. Lucky Lady.

Now speaking of matching style, here are the prettiest pink wedding shoes and below is a simply stunning lady, Shelly. Her dress has pockets! (Practicality and beauty)

Speedys day by Yatesy

It was all very official when I first met Caroline (Ponti), she was busy naming a new bridge for Brisbane and everything was proper and lovely…Then I met Drew (Speedy) and it all came undone. Completely and utterly in a good way. Drew is a country lad, so we bonded over 4wd’s Rover vs Jeep vs Toyota and chatted about sheep. Caroline and I bonded over THE dress and our love for nearly everything the same as each other.  I was christened Yatesy, became apart of the family and now I never want to leave. This is their day with love from Yatesy.

CD23102010-0015

Oh how can you not love this smile, hillarious. And he is totally irresistable.

No raining on Lou’s parade

And so goes the story of Louise and Michael. Lou would have to rate up there with the most organised of Brides, being a Virgo and a little bit into organisation myself, I knew that no matter what this day threw at us we would just laugh right back at it. And it threw a big one, and we had a great time. Rain…? Storms…? You got nothing on these two.

LM10102010-0010

So off we trudged to commence the day with some shots at Mick’s folks house with the boys.

LM10102010-0046

Meet the boys Josh, Phil, Chris and Glen and of course our lovely groom Mick.

LM10102010-0120

And our completley adorable little boys Zack and Cooper. Aww.

LM10102010-0122

LM10102010-0355

Umbrellas up and off to the city to see our ladies.

Now just a little note that lovely Lou is a bank babe by day and an awesome make-up artist in her spare time. See her work for yourself. (I can’t even do my lipstick properly…I am taking notes Lou)

LM10102010-0601

LM10102010-0678

LM10102010-0711

Fantastic Eyes!!

LM10102010-0721

LM10102010-0749

And we LOVE photographing Lou. I cant tell you how much my face ached. Totally relaxed, totally organised.

LM10102010-0740

LM10102010-0746

LM10102010-0798

After dragging ourselves back out into the rain we headed to our venue for the ceremony and reception Victoria Park Golf Course. Who are extremely well equipped in dealing with “weather situations”.

LM10102010-1046

Great stripey roof and groovy lights.

LM10102010-1059

LM10102010-1236

LM10102010-1241

I love these kids.

LM10102010-1204

LM10102010-1387

Especially when they do things like this.

LM10102010-1480

There is my look, I love when I see this… Lou you have such a great smile!

LM10102010-1499

LM10102010-1502

What was meant to be a lovely October sun-shiny-day turned to dark-shitty-skies. But hey, we get awesome pictures from this.

LM10102010-1559

Poor Michael was soaked after these shots, I dont think Lou felt a thing and she still looked fabulous.

LM10102010-1566

And the look again..

LM10102010-1710

LM10102010-1726

After a quick dry off we returned to Victoria Park for the celebrations, and to take advatage of the beautiful interiors and some warmth/dry.

LM10102010-1718

Lou and Mick, what a funny day we had! Looking back, the rain has got nothing on you two! Thank you again for your superior organisational skills, amazing looks and just overall giving me a glimpse of your fantastic life that has just begun. Wishing you so much love.

No Cold Hearts Here

Gosh I meet some great people…I really enjoy that the Brides and Grooms who come to me have such a sense of how things are going to be on their wedding day and always this is a refelction of how they are as a couple, their view on love and how they want it to be celebrated. This is why I love Scott and Alison, two groovy people, completely in love and celebrating their grooviness (for the purposes of this blog grooviness is a word) in Brisbane’s grooviest place of all things contemporary and artistic The Powerhouse. AS09102010-0053

I have to say it was a really wet and awful day, I mean torrential rain as only Brisbane can turn on, but we didnt care, Alison looked amazing, we had umbrellas and everything was indoors. Not a care in the world, we were off to a great start.

AS09102010-0100

AS09102010-0146

Oh you are so fab Alison, Perfect dress, perfect hair, perfect man…

AS09102010-0147
AS09102010-0149

AS09102010-0199

And here is our Groom Scott. Waiting patiently for his lady. Looking fantastic. Scott is the bassist and vocalist for the band “cold heart projects”. When I met these guys we pretty much bonded over music and I was sold on Cold Hearts awesome sound. I grabbed this line from their website which perfectly describes their music (and Scott… he he just kidding but it is funny.) “Think one part Mogwai, one part Sonic Youth and one part ….trail of dead and you would be close to a cocktail that will make most people smile then vomit in pleasure”.

AS09102010-0215

AS09102010-0265

Alison and her lovely Dad (Ipromise I did not strategically place the graffiti halo above his head on purpose)

AS09102010-0326

AS09102010-0329

And yes, it was a touching ceremony….completley personal, completley romantic and completed with many tears.

AS09102010-0639

AS09102010-0651

We had a little bit of time out to enjoy the architechture of the powerhouse and be sheltered from the rain, and do a spot of dancing in the corridors.

AS09102010-0677
AS09102010-0679

AS09102010-0786

AS09102010-0822

AS09102010-0867

We headed off to Portside to the funky restaurant Manx (Ihighly recommend for an intimate reception gathering) and Scott loved the lighting….:)

AS09102010-0945

AS09102010-0960

A fantastic day, I just loved hanging out with you both and your friends and family. I know you need no wishing, but I do wish you all the best in the band, in life, in love and wishing the most amazing happiness with each other.

And the Bride was from Yeoval

Around the time of making the decision to quit our life in the big smoke I had an appointment with a striking lady named Shannon and her lovely man Simon. They came to the studio to check me out and see if I was the “one” to look after their wedding memories. We had a lovely time getting to know each other, so much so, I thought gosh I really gel with this lady, so I delved into their story deeper and asked Shannon where are you from originally? (I was suspicious upon hearing a little bit of an accent that she wasn’t from QLD) and she said well I am from a little country town in NSW called Yeoval, oh, she gushed you probably have never heard of it. Quite the opposite my friend its very close to were I am from. Love a fellow country lass….And love this wedding…

SS02102010-0019
SS02102010-0032

Hello Simon, dashingly handsome man with an amazing zest for life and for his Bride. Simon was flanked by his men Aaron, Brad and Tim. We met the boys at Clear Mountain Retreat on a very wet October weekend.

SS02102010-0046

Simon is fantastic to photograph.

SS02102010-0081

But the country lass steals the show. Meet the lovely Shannon. Striking indeed.

Sheltering from the torrential rain outside we pretended it was a lovely sunny day and were all smiles. Oh and laugh, laugh we did.

More country ladies, Ange, Xanthie and Kate. And Shannon’s gorgeous Mum below who was recently a cover girl in the well known country ladies magazine Style.

SS02102010-0576

A quiet moment before the mad dash out into the rain and into his arms…not long now.

SS02102010-0854

We gathered at the Samford Catholic Church for a beautiful, simple ceremony celebrating these two amazing people.

SS02102010-0903

Who are completely into each other.

SS02102010-1285

The weather and I had a bit of a chat before we both agreeded on half an hour of “no rain for the location photos”. We got to work before my time was up and travelled up to our party venue at Ocean View Estste Winery.

SS02102010-1329

SS02102010-1342

Yes, it is fantastic wine, I left with a half dozen…again.

SS02102010-1400

SS02102010-1408

SS02102010-1427

Such a magic venue and looks fabulous with a threatening sky and a great Bride and Groom.

SS02102010-1516

SS02102010-1592

The Yates umbrellas had to come out as my half and hour was up, but nothing could dampen the spirits (or the wine) here. Shannon and Simon what a beautiful day, it was perfect. No matter what the weather does, nothing could take away what we were all here to celebrate, the beginning of awesome things for two fantastic people. x Denise (photographer and weather whisperer)
